Testimonials

Here's what some of our families have to say about us!

Our daughter has been taking karate lessons from Sensei Mike for five years. This has been a wonderful program for her in many ways. Her physical fitness - coordination, endurance, strength, and flexibility - have improved. She has achieved the Presidential Fitness Standard level the past two years and we're sure that a huge part of that is the work-outs and training she receives here. The lessons are given in a very supportive atmosphere - both from the instructors and fellow students. The camaraderie is great among the students of all ages and she has formed some good friendships. The instructors are knowledgeable, supportive, and enjoy teaching kids of all ages. Working towards her long-term goal of a black belt and reflecting on her progression these past years, have contributed to our daughter's understanding of short-term and long-term goals and the persistent effort that goes into achieving them.

My name is Pam and my son and daughter have been in the MJA Martial Arts program with Sensei Mike for years. I initially signed my son up first because I thought the added discipline and structure of the classes would help with his frequent temper tantrums and within six months, my son’s tantrums were cut in half. He’s a much more loving, caring, and generous child and I know this program has contributed to those changes. He is
currently a 1st degree purple belt and hopes to some day become a black belt. As for my daughter, I signed her up for completely different reasons. I thought it was a good idea for her to learn how to defend herself especially in the extremely volatile world we live in today. She is currently studying for her 2nd degree blue belt test and also has a long-term goal of becoming a black belt. I will feel much better when my daughter is going out for the evening knowing she can defend herself in any situation. As for me, I have seen wonderful, positive changes in both of my children and I’m very impressed with the program. One of the most amazing things I’ve noticed throughout the years is the utmost respect they have developed for Sensei Mike. He has true concern for all the children and wants to see them succeed not just in his program but in life. He
relates to each child according to that child's specific needs and abilities both physically and mentally. He is a wonderful teacher and has been such a positive influence and role model in my children’s lives and for that I am forever grateful.

We cannot say enough about MJA Martial Arts. We researched many dojos before choosing MJA. The focus of our research was to find a safe but most importantly ethical place for our son to learn the art of Kenpo Karate. We were NOT looking for a place which would essentially “sell” us a belt for our son, giving him the false impression that he had earned it. We found those qualities in MJA Martial Arts. Our son has thrived under the direction of Sensei Mike and Instructor Shawn. He has developed friendships, confidence, and self esteem and recognizes the concept of discipline and hard work to earn rewards. He has earned an orange belt while attending MJA for the past 3 years (with a year break in between), which also equates to earning the respect of his teammates but most importantly Sensei Mike and himself.
Thank you Sensei Mike and “Mrs.” Sensei!

When I turned 40 I started having aches and pains that I shouldn't be having at my age, so I decided to do something about it. Martial arts always interested me so I joined MJA Martial Arts. The staff made me feel comfortable and at home, and it was also more than I expected. Martial Arts training is a full body workout, and when I say full body workout I mean body and mind. In just a few months I no longer had aches and pains, I'm not as tired as I used to be and I have alot more stamina at work, and learning the art of self-defense was an added bonus. Thank you Sensei Mike and all the staff at MJA Martial Arts!
